Full-Stack Symfony Developer
A client of Scalable Path's is looking for a Full-Stack Symfony Developer. This is a remote, part-time position (approximately 4 hours/day).
CLIENT COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
The client has a financial platform that deals in the gold and silver market.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will be maintaining the existing gold and silver savings platform performing mainly backend work. The plan is to rebrand the existing application and make some modifications for one of their partners, so this will require making changes and adding new features.
Some of the main tasks will include rebuilding the deployment pipeline. Currently is not possible to deploy to any of the environments. The developer in charge needs to understand what PHP dependencies are broken, the first step would be to look into the Composer Recipe. If that doesn't work then it would be necessary to check each dependency.
The developer will need to get familiar with the Symfony codebase in order to fix some existing issues mainly including fixing broken links on the website and applying general copy updates.
The client has other platforms such as a Magento e-commerce site for collectible coins and they are requiring some extra help migrating an existing feature that consumes an external service that provides gold and silver pricing.
Other general maintenance tasks might be needed on daily bases.
RELATIONSHIPS - WHO YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH:
You will be working with the Chief Admin Officer and will be the primary developer on the project. There is another developer at Scalable Path who knows the project well and should be able to give you direction. The client is in the America/Chicago (-05:00) CDT time zone.
- Strong English skills
- PHP (Symfony version 2.3)
- Docker (mainly used for local environment)
- General DevOps (experience with deployment pipelines)
DESIRED (NICE-TO-HAVE) SKILLS:
- Experience working with Chef
- Familiarity with Assembla (tracking system)
- Magento 2
- Discord for communication
- Experience with bcmath PHP extension

3-6 months (and potentially longer)
